The house-buying craze in Los Angeles has lost momentum, in some cases forcing agents to advise clients to lower list prices, rely less on bidding wars and in certain scenarios even cut commission rates.

Shouldered by the pandemic, the housing market was seeing homes sold at record prices, sometimes tens of thousands of dollars over the original asking price. Today, the market is looking a little different for sellers.

LA Times: ‘F9’ producer Joe Roth drops $23 million for a Beverly Hills Midcentury

Powerhouse producer Joe Roth is leaving Holmby Hills for Beverly Hills. A few months after listing his 13,600-square-foot mansion for $48 million, records show he quietly paid $23 million for a 1960s Midcentury in an off-market deal.

Due to the relatively low square footage and high sale price, the price per square foot shakes out to about $4,171 — one of the highest ever recorded in Beverly Hills.

The home's current owner, hedge-fund executive Jonathan Brooks, bought the home from the actors in 2006 after their divorce, according to The Wall Street Journal.

The multi-level grounds boast meandering stoned courtyard and patios, multiple fireplaces including in the bedrooms, fireplaces in the dining room and bar, outdoor living room and an outdoor bedroom over the tennis court. 

It was going to be their forever love nest when Jennifer and Brad bought it soon after their Malibu marriage.
